October 26 (Wed) 7:00pm Meet the Controller: Approach Control

Event Date:
Wednesday, October 26, 2016 - 7:00pm to 9:00pm

Pilots and controllers work closely to ensure that the National Airspace System functions safety and efficiently.  As pilots, we know about our priorities, concerns, and issues.  What about the team on the other side of the radio?  What are the challenges facing approach controllers guiding large IFR traffic safely in the SF Bay Area airports?  Have you ever wanted to ask one of the NorCal TRACON controller's a question but were afraid to ask?

Join us at San Carlos Flight Center, as we welcome in two NorCal TRACON controllers from our sector in the South Bay.  We’ve asked them for a brief presentation of the traffic patterns of the Bay Area followed by an extended question and answer session.  NorCal has a program to reach out to pilots to educate and communicate procedures in their area so that pilots know what to expect and why the controllers request what they do.  This helps everybody share the airspace better, and keeps all aircraft safe.

This is a phenomenal opportunity to speak directly in person to a controller and meet the person on the other end of the radio.  You will leave this session knowing more than most pilots on how to fly more efficiently in our area.
